About us: VICSES volunteers

Join us - Become a volunteer
Our volunteers are the backbone of our organisation, and come from all walks of life, ages and backgrounds.
There’s a position for everyone at VICSES, and anyone can make a valuable contribution.

Wear Orange Wednesday
Wear Orange Wednesday (WOW Day) is the national day of recognition to say ‘thank you’ to SES volunteers.
Our volunteers serve their communities 24 hours a day, seven days a week through storms, floods, road crash rescues, and so much more.

Community Matters
Launched in December 2017, Community Matters delivers essential information and updates from across VICSES.
It provides information on health and safety, campaigns and events, projects and operations, along with interesting news stories from each of our regions.
Celebrating 50 Years of VICSES
VICSES has a rich historical past. In 1950 we were first established as a volunteer-based Civil Defence Organisation.
Since 1975, VICSES has grown to include over 5,000 volunteers and more than 350 staff.
